Tamil videos often have captions only when the creator added them. Videos with no captions at all can't be transcribed yet.
English is the default, so a video with both English and Tamil captions gives English unless Tamil is chosen in the Captions menu (the button on this page chooses it for you).
Auto-generated captions can get names, mixed Tamil-English speech and songs wrong: check important quotes against the video.
File names keep the video's original title, including Tamil letters.

Can I download the transcript of a Tamil YouTube video?

Yes, when the video has Tamil captions. Choose Tamil in the Captions menu (the button on this page does it for you), paste the link and get the text in Tamil script.

Will the Tamil transcript be translated to English?

No. We never translate. You get the Tamil captions exactly as YouTube has them; keep the default (English) if you'd rather have English captions when they exist.

Can I get Tamil subtitles as an SRT file?
