Why this exists
Getting one YouTube transcript is easy. Getting two hundred is the problem nobody solves properly, and that is the whole reason this was built.
The problem
Most free transcript tools work the same way: they fetch captions using your internet connection. That is fine for one video. Somewhere around the fifth or tenth, YouTube starts refusing the requests, and from that point there is nothing you can do about it — not a different browser, not waiting, not trying again tomorrow.
If you only ever need one transcript, you will never notice. If you are working through a lecture series, a podcast back catalogue, or a channel you are researching, you hit it immediately, and usually after you have already spent an hour on it.
How this is different
Transcripts here are fetched through rotating residential proxies with an automatic fallback chain, from our servers rather than your connection. That is unglamorous infrastructure and it is the entire product: it is what lets a run of two hundred videos actually finish.
We read the captions YouTube already has. We do not transcribe audio, and we do not translate — a Telugu video gives you Telugu captions in Telugu script, not an English approximation of them. Nineteen caption languages work this way, which was a deliberate choice: tools built only for English handle them badly or not at all.
On pricing
Ten videos a day are free with no account at all, because a tool you cannot try is a tool you cannot judge. A free account adds 25 credits. Beyond that, credit packs are one-time purchases that never expire — there is no subscription, because most people need a lot of transcripts in one week and none for the next three.
A credit is only spent when a transcript is actually delivered. A video with captions disabled costs you nothing, which is the behaviour we would want as customers.
What we will tell you plainly
- Videos without captions cannot be transcribed here. We will say so rather than return something invented.
- Private and unlisted videos are not accessible, by design.
- Playlists and channels need a paid pack, because each one is real cost on our side.
- If something breaks, the contact page reaches a person.
Working inside AI assistants
Transcripts are increasingly something people want inside a conversation rather than downloaded and pasted. You can connect this to Claude, Cursor or your own code and ask for transcripts without leaving the chat, using the same credits and the same limits. The connector page covers the setup.
Who builds it
This is an independent product, built and run by one developer rather than a company with a support department. That has a trade-off worth stating: replies come from the person who wrote the code, which is usually faster and occasionally slower.
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments as merchant of record, so invoicing and tax are handled properly rather than improvised.
